01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Chapa, a neighbourhood Chinese-style restaurant in Ayase, one pleasure is alternating bites of ramen and fried rice. A diner who ordered Chinese-style noodles with half-portion fried rice said the two went particularly well together. Another found the fried rice so generous that it hardly seemed like a half portion. It’s a satisfying option when you’d like both noodles and rice in one meal.

Half-portion fried rice is also available on its own, and one diner chose it as a meal after drinks. Another ordered the simple, moist fried rice by itself, making it the focus of the meal. You can decide whether to pair it with ramen or enjoy it alone. Among the noodle dishes, diners have mentioned ordering vegetable-packed tanmen with half-portion fried rice, and described the tantanmen as rich but not especially spicy. The menu also includes suān-là-tāng noodles, jajangmyeon-style noodles and tsukemen.

Set meals and à la carte dishes round out the menu; one diner particularly enjoyed the liver and garlic chive stir-fry. Chicken karaage and mapo tofu, among other dishes, are listed as set meals served with rice, soup and pickles. Chapa is open for lunch and dinner and is described as suitable for solo diners. Payment is cash only, so it’s worth coming prepared.
